Lincolnshire emergency services plan to combine in £15m move

Emergency services in Lincolnshire could move to a joint control centre as part of a £15m plan to increase collaboration.

Other proposals include a "blue light campus" with combined fire, police and ambulance stations built in Lincoln.

The measures are supported by the emergency services and the Police and Crime Commissioner.

The plans will be discussed by Lincolnshire County Council's executive committee next week.

'Individual identity'

Marc Jones, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Lincolnshire, said the proposed changes were "about effective partnership and not take over."

"Myself and the Chief Constable and all the other agencies involved are very clear that each organisation will maintain its individual identity," he said.

As well as the combined control and command centre for fire and police services the project could also see "a combined administrative headquarters" as well as looking to "co-locate services in ambulance stations, police stations or fire stations".

The partners have secured a grant of £7.5m from the Home Office's Police Innovation Fund, with match funding being provided by the three services.

If approved, the changes could be introduced by summer 2018.
