A man accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend and her son had previously said he wanted to "wipe out her whole bloodline", a court has heard.

Bethany Vincent, 26, and nine-year-old Darren Henson were found fatally injured at their home in Louth, Lincolnshire, on 31 May 2021.

Lincoln Crown Court heard that both had been stabbed through the heart as well as suffering other injuries.

Daniel Boulton, 30, has denied their murder but has admitted manslaughter.

The court was told heard that during meetings with a support worker, the accused had been focused on the future.

Mark Nethercott told the jury that Mr Boulton had been "well-mannered" and wanted to get a job, accommodation and parenting classes.

'Angry and frustrated'

He had previously split up with Ms Vincent and had ended up in temporary accommodation in Skegness.

Mr Nethercott said he was "shocked" to learn the defendant had told a colleague he "wanted to wipe out her [Ms Vincent's] whole bloodline".

When the support worker raised it, Mr Boulton said he was "venting because he was angry and frustrated", the jury heard.

"He said he didn't mean it and was just getting his frustrations out," said Mr Nethercott.

The court was told as well as being stabbed through the heart, Ms Vincent and Darren, known as DJ, had also suffered blunt force injuries.

Ms Vincent also had cuts which could have been sustained as she defended herself.

Emma Distance, a friend of Ms Vincent, said he had told her "he hated DJ and wanted him dead" six weeks before the killings.

The jury previously heard Mr Boulton claim he was suffering from a mental health condition.

Prosecutor Katherine Goddard QC said he had become increasingly violent towards Ms Vincent and her family.

There was also a restraining order against him, which he "repeatedly broke", the jury has heard.

Mr Boulton walked 28 miles from his home in Skegness to Ms Vincent's home in High Holme Road where he repeatedly stabbed her and her son, Ms Goddard said.

The case continues.
