Grantham fatal stabbing victim named as Tony McDermott

A man who is believed to have been stabbed to death at a house in Grantham has been named by police.

Tony McDermott, 38, was found at the property in Eton Street just after 04:20 BST on Saturday, a Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said.

"His family is being offered support by specially-trained officers and we would ask that their privacy is respected at this time," they added.

A 37-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody.

Police said Mr McDermott had been found with serious injuries which were believed to be knife wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Our investigations into the circumstances of his death are ongoing", the force spokesperson added.

"We will remain in the local area for the next few days while forensic investigations and other inquiries by investigators are carried out."
