Liz Drury said anti-social behaviour by youths in Barton was "getting more brazen"

Police are investigating after an actress in a Halloween ghost walk had an egg smashed over her head.

Liz Drury said she was verbally abused by a group of teenagers before the attack as she took part in the annual event in Barton, North Lincolnshire.

She said anti-social behaviour by youths in the town was "getting more brazen".

Humberside Police described the incident as "unacceptable behaviour" and appealed for information.

Ms Drury, who was playing the Grey Lady ghost, said another actor had an egg thrown at them last year.

"Things have certainly escalated in the last couple of years," she said.

"This year I was in front of an audience of over 40 people and they thought it was appropriate to come and attack me."

She said the group also set off a firework and shouted racist abuse at the audience.

"It's a shame that people want to come and spoil something that's being done for their community," she added.

"We're all volunteers and we all do it for nothing because we want to provide entertainment for the people of Barton."

Humberside Police described the Halloween incident as "unacceptable behaviour"

Ch Insp Gary Foster said there had been a "significant reduction in reports of anti-social behaviour surrounding Halloween and Bonfire Night".

"However this has not prevented all unwanted anti-social behaviour and we did deal with a number of incidents across the force," he said.

He added: "I hope that people understand that we are working with our partners at the local authorities and Humberside Fire and Rescue Service to engage with young people locally to prevent such incidents happening.

"I want to reassure our communities that we will listen to their concerns and act accordingly to any incidents reported to us."
