Night-time roadworks revelry in Skegness blamed for disruption

"Drunken revelry" has been blamed for disruption to road improvement work in Skegness.
Lincolnshire County Council said workers were having to spend too much time stopping drunk people going near heavy machinery and hot tar while working at night.
Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said work on Grand Parade would now be carried out in the day.
"The safety of our workforce and the public is paramount," he said.
Mr Davies said the move would cause some additional disruption for businesses and the public, but said they must "do what is in their best interest to keep them safe at all times".
"Unfortunately we have no choice," he said.
"The coastal economy is having a hard time of it at the moment, and the last thing businesses wanted was more traffic restrictions.
"I'm really disappointed and to be honest a little bit peeved," he said.
He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "We can't be fending off - dare I say drunk people - and keeping them away from the equipment."
"In the meantime, we ask anyone travelling within Skegness to leave extra time for their journeys during the day," he added.
Work is taking place on North Parade, Grand Parade and Drummond Road.
