A Stamford play area targeted by arsonists has reopened with new equipment to replace items destroyed.

The College Close facility suffered extensive damage in June, with several pieces of equipment set alight.

Items that have been replaced include a climbing frame, a rubber mulch safety surface and wooden fencing.

Councillor Paul Stokes, from South Kesteven District Council, said: "A lot of hard work has gone into restoring this area.

"The council provides assets like this for the benefit of local communities and to help the younger generation to be active, enjoying their outdoor play.

"It was a shame that somebody chose to disrupt such a large area here, including the conifers growing nearby."

Mr Stokes asked local residents to "remain vigilant" and report any future issues to the authorities.
