Boston former homeless woman's joy at spending Christmas in own flat

A Lincolnshire woman has spoken of her joy at spending Christmas in her own flat after years of being homeless.

Rachel Gosling from Boston was homeless for six years. She lived in hostels in the town, squats and even slept rough in woodlands.

It comes as figures suggest 300,000 people in England are likely to spend Christmas experiencing some form of homelessness.

Housing charity Shelter estimates the figure is 14% up on last year, with most of those affected being in temporary accommodation.

On Christmas Day, Ms Gosling said she wanted to "give something back" by volunteering with a local charity handing out warm packs.
