Boston Central Park repairs underway after fairground damage

Work to repair Boston's Central Park has started after it was damaged last autumn.

Work to repair the ground at Boston's Central Park is underway after it was damaged by an autumn fair last year.

Damage was caused to the parkland after the annual event in October coincided with Storm Babet.

The situation was criticised by residents on social media after the grassland was churned up by visitors and vehicles.

A spokesperson for Boston Borough Council said the fair operating company would be covering the cost of repairs.

Council officials have apologised for closing the park while repair work takes place.

Dale Broughton, deputy leader of Boston Borough Council, said he was "delighted" the work has started.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused while the park is closed and assure residents that we're committed to restoring Central Park to its former glory," he added.

The project has seen water drained from the site and the soil prepared before the ground can be reseeded in the spring.

A council spokesperson also said future autumn and winter events in the park would be reviewed as part of next year's planning.
