The county council said the newly-laid surfacing did not meet its high standards

A main road will be closed for up to three nights to allow contractors to fix a pedestrian crossing.

From 25 March, Wragby Road East in North Greetwell will be closed from Greetwell Lane to Lodge Lane.

Lincolnshire County Council said the work would be carried out from 22:00 to 07:00 GMT.

Karen Cassar, the assistant director for highways, said surfacing near the newly-installed crossing had ailed to meet "stringent quality requirements".

A diversion will be in place via the A158, A15, B1188, B1202.

Access to the service station and restaurant will be maintained until 22:00 GMT, but no through route will be available, the council said.

Ms Cassar, the authority's assistant director for highways, said: "Unfortunately, the textured surfacing at the approaches to the new pedestrian crossing in North Greetwell hasn't met our stringent quality requirements.

"As a result, the contractor will be repairing this as part of our contract with them, at their own cost."
