Detailed traffic plans have been laid out ahead of the start of seven-months of roadworks in Lincoln city centre.

The first phase including signalling, drainage and footway works along Newland begin on Monday 15 April for 10 weeks.

A westbound road closure will be in place between The Avenue and Wigford Way during the Newland improvements.

Access to the Brayford Waterfront and Lucy Tower Street Car Park will be from an eastbound direction.

After 09:30 BST on 15 April, traffic exiting from Lucy Tower Street and Wigford Way will be unable to turn left on to Newland.

The current traffic signals at Carholme Road and Lucy Tower Street junctions will be replaced with temporary ones from 15 April.

The Lucy Tower Street junction will include a pedestrian crossing phase and the one outside County Offices will be closed off.

There will be a signed diversion for the westbound road closure of Broadgate A1434, Kesteven St, East West Link Road (Tentercroft Street), Rope Walk and Brayford Way (University Bridge).

The seven-month maintenance and resurfacing project includes additional planned works on Wigford Way, Mint Lane and Lucy Tower Street.

Road closures will also be put in place overnight throughout the works as they progress between 19:00 and 06:00 BST.

The City of Lincoln Council said it will issue information ahead of any further traffic changes with advance warning signs at the site and on its website.
