Lincoln police officer takes on 10K in full riot gear for charity

A Lincolnshire police officer has run the Lincoln 10k race dressed in full riot gear to raise money for charity.
Response officer PC Chris Jones, who is based in the city, was raising awareness and money for the Care of Police Survivors (COPS) charity.
He was kitted out in padding, guards, shield and a helmet, which in total weighed more than two stones (12.7kg).
Mr Jones, who raised more than £3,000 for his chosen charity, said he had been "overwhelmed" by the support.
Speaking ahead of Sunday's challenge, he said: "This kit is not for running any distance in, let alone over six miles, so this will equate to a gruelling challenge.
"You have to do something really daft to raise plenty of money for good causes and I think this fits the bill."
At the finish line, Mr Jones thanked people for their support, adding that the cheering had helped to spur him on to complete the challenge.
Since its foundation in 2003, COPS has helped families of police officers and staff who have been left devastated by the loss of a loved one who died on duty.
Senior Lincolnshire officer Ch Supt Paul Timmins praised his colleague's efforts.
"COPS are a fantastic charity who support policing families at their darkest moment," he added.
