Time-lapse photos of a new cinema being constructed in Gainsborough show the progress being made.

Construction work began in March to build a four-screen cinema, two retail units and a restaurant in the Market Place.

The £9 million project was announced by West Lindsey District Council (WLDC) and Savoy Cinema.

Gelder Group secured the contract to build the complex.

Funding for the development has come from WLDC, the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), the Levelling Up Fund from the government and Savoy Cinemas.

Site assembly and clearance has been supported by external funding which includes £500,000 from Greater Lincolnshire LEP and funds from the Levelling Up programme.

The project will also have additional parking and a new walking link between Marshall's Yard and the Market Place.

Solar panels and air-sourced heat technology will be part of the scheme to ensure it is environmentally friendly, WLDC said.

Demolition of the former Lindsey Centre, previously known as Oldrids Department Store, was completed in June 2023.
