Man found dead in Brayford Pool in Lincoln named by police

Mr Sweetland's death is currently being treated as unexplained, police said

Police have released the name of a man whose body was found in Brayford Pool in Lincoln.

Lincolnshire Police said Darren Sweetland, 58, was found in the water in the early hours of Monday.

Officers retrieved Mr Sweetland's body with help from colleagues from the fire service but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said investigations into the circumstances of Mr Sweetland's death were ongoing.

A force spokesperson said Mr Sweetland's family had been informed, and had asked for privacy while they dealt with their loss.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
