St John's Primary Academy in Bracebridge has been repeatedly vandalised, its head teacher said

A Lincolnshire village primary school is being "repeatedly vandalised", its head teacher has said.

In a letter to parents posted online, Emma Jefferson head of St John's Primary Academy in Bracebridge Heath said an object was thrown through a door leaving smashed glass everywhere.

She wrote: "It breaks our hearts to the see the damage that has been caused."

Mrs Jefferson added the incidents had been reported to police and appealed for information.

The attacks have damaged the school's early years area and the nurture room.

"The financial implications of this for the school are immense," Mrs Jefferson wrote.

"Fixing these areas is at a great cost to the school and we want to be using our funds for the benefit of our pupils and ensuring they receive the best possible education."

Lincolnshire Police said they had received "several reports about trespass, anti-social behaviour, and criminal damage" at the school over the last few months.

The force added that "officers have also identified several names of youths believed to be involved".

"The parents of some of these children have already been spoken with and we will also be speaking directly with the children to take their accounts," a spokesperson said.
