An outdoor paddling pool in Skegness which has entertained families for decades has been temporarily closed.

In a post on social media, East Lindsey District Council said urgent repairs were required to the seating-area concrete at the Fairy Dell pool.

Residents and visitors to the resort said they were disappointed it had been forced to close.

The council said it was arranging for contractors to carry out the work as soon as possible.

In 2022, the pool, which dates back to the 1920s, was shut after a blaze at a nearby power substation.

It was also forced to close last year after vandals threw glass bottles into it.

Ian Jenkinson, 74, said something needed to be done to ensure the pool remained open.

"It's an attraction for Skegness and it brings people in, especially kids," he added.

Michael Micholson, 70, said he had visited the pool with his granddaughter and noticed that some of the concrete had fallen off.

Kerry Pike, 39, said it was disappointing that it had closed again before she was able to take her children along.

"It looked really, really good, but we just didn't get the chance to use it," she said.

East Lindsey District Council has apologised and said it was working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
