A man and a woman have been remanded in custody after being charged with murdering a teenager found dead in a bath in a flat in east London.

The 15-year-old boy was discovered in Hathaway Crescent, Manor Park, Newham, on Christmas Day, and had suffered a "number of injuries", police said.

Eric Baikubi and Magalie Bamu, both 27, appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court in Bow, east London.

They are next due to appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday.

Both of the accused come from Hathaway Crescent.

They spoke only to confirm personal details during a 15-minute hearing, with Miss Bamu speaking through an interpreter.

The identity of the dead boy has not been released.

A post-mortem examination at East Ham mortuary failed to determine the precise cause of his death and police are awaiting the results of further tests.
