A strike held on Boxing Day caused disruption to many passengers

The Tube drivers' union Aslef has said it is confident issues relating to bank holiday working can be resolved by mutual agreement.

It follows talks with London Underground (LU) to resolve the dispute after a Boxing Day strike.

The union has demanded triple pay and a day off in lieu for working on bank holidays.

Transport for London said it welcomed Aslef's willingness to settle the matter without further strike action.

'Welcome news'

There was speculation of a strike being held on the day of the Royal wedding, on 29 April.

But Aslef's chief executive dismissed any discussion of strike action on the day and said there had been no ballot for industrial action.

An Aslef spokesman said: "We've had amicable talks with LU and are optimistic about being able to come to an agreement."

LU's chief operating officer Howard Collins said: "We have said since the start of this dispute that the only way to resolve this issue is by getting round the table for constructive talks.

"It is welcome news that Aslef seem to be showing a willingness to engage and settle the matter without recourse to any further strike action."
