Harrow Road attack suspect 'had distinctive outfit'

A man wearing a "very distinctive" striped outfit is suspected of attacking a teenager at a takeaway in west London, police have said.

He was allegedly among a group of nine men who left a 17-year-old with serious chest and arm injuries at Carolina Chicken in Harrow Road, Maida Vale.

The "unprovoked" assault took place on New Year's Eve but details have only now been released by officers.

The suspect has also been linked to a separate assault earlier that day.

A 23-year-old was injured in that attack, which took place at about 1800 GMT on 31 December in a shop at the Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherd's Bush.

The suspect was then seen on CCTV travelling on a bus towards Maida Vale, police said.

And at 2350 GMT, he and the rest of the group allegedly attacked the boy and a friend in the fast-food restaurant.

The 17-year-old has now made a full recovery.

"Police wish to speak with this man urgently regarding these incidents," said Det Con Jorden Brewster of the Metropolitan Police.

"He is a black man aged around 18 wearing a very distinctive striped hat and dark clothing."

A 15-year-old boy has already been given a six-month referral order after admitting common assault during this attack.

An 18-year-old who was arrested has been bailed until later this month.
