Cyclists outnumbering motorists: Strength in numbers?

Are cyclists more likely to get a ticket on a cycle lane?

A story has been doing the rounds about how on some roads cyclists outnumber motorists, external.

Sources at City Hall, external - although extremely pleased with the coverage - have told me that, while they think this may be the case anecdotally, they are not sure if there is the long-term scientific evidence yet.

Having looked at the figures, one thing stood out. The figures seem to be measured only on bridges, in some cases where the cycling superhighways, external cross the Thames.

Perhaps that is one of the reasons why there is an increase, due to a concentration of bikes on those roads.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me if those interchanges see the most enforcement. Walking over London Bridge on Wednesday I saw this cyclist getting a ticket...
