A 23-year-old man has been found shot dead in a car in south-east London.
Police found Genson Courtney on Banning Street, Greenwich, at 2250 BST on Sunday, after reports of shots fired.
Mr Courtney, from Greenwich, was found in a black Volkswagen Golf with gun shot wounds to his head and a shoulder. No arrests have been made.
The man is believed to be the stepson of celebrity author Dave Courtney who wrote books about his underworld connections in the 1960s and 1970s.
The Metropolitan Police's Operation Trident unit, which looks at gun crime in London's African and Caribbean communities, is investigating.
Det Ch Insp Mark Gower, who is leading the investigation, said: "I am appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact the police.
"I would like to reassure anyone concerned about contacting the police that Trident has great expertise in protecting witnesses and there are a huge variety of measures that can be put in place to protect you."
