Northern Line extension consultation begins

A consultation into plans to extend the Northern Line into an area of south London has started.
Transport for London (TfL) wants to build new stations at Nine Elms and Battersea as part of a revamp of Battersea Power Station.
TfL said the plans would cut pressure on Vauxhall station and reduce journey times to the City and West End.
Last year, Chancellor George Osborne backed the plans and claimed the proposals could create 25,000 jobs.
The plans, external also include installing two ventilation and emergency access shafts at Kennington Green and Kennington Park; and building two temporary shafts to allow ground stabilisation work before tunnel building begins.
TfL hopes the new underground stations could be open by 2020, subject to funding and government approval.
The consultation ends on 16 December
