Barking cyclist dies in lorry crash

A cyclist has died in a crash with a lorry in east London.

The crash happened at 10:23 GMT on the westbound A13 Ripple Road, near the Ship & Shovel pub in Barking. A man, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The lorry driver, a 57-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was taken into custody at an east London police station and subsequently bailed pending further investigation.

The cyclist's next of kin have been informed, while a post-mortem and inquest will be scheduled in due course.
