Royal College of Art secret artist postcard sale attracts thousands

More than £100,000 was raised by a "secret postcard" sale held by the Royal College of Art (RCA) when enthusiasts descended on the Battersea site.
Staff at the Battersea site sold 2,222 of the 3,000 postcards by artists including Quentin Blake and Grayson Perry for £50 each.
More than 30 tents were pitched outside the Hester Road College, as people queued for days.
Work by Paula Rego, David Bailey and Sir Paul Smith were also on sale.
The Stewarts Law RCA Secret postcard sale is in its 20th year.
Buyers did not know the name of the artist behind each work until after they purchased it. The artist's signature was on the back.
The money raised from the sale will help to provide grants and bursaries to emerging artists.
