Man dies and woman hurt in Willesden crash

A man has died and a woman has been left in a critical condition in a crash in north London.

The man, a pedestrian in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene while the woman, who is in her late 20s, was taken to a central London hospital.

The collision happened on Willesden Lane at the junction with Walm Lane at 23:30 GMT on Saturday.

The 33-year-old driver of the Mercedes C Class has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was also arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink-driving, and is currently in custody at a north London station.

A male passenger fled the scene.

Next of kin have not been informed of the man's death.

Officers investigating the collision are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with any information, to contact them.
