Au pairs: Better regulations are demanded to prevent exploitation
There are calls to introduce regulations for au pairs so they are better protected from exploitation and abuse.
Most of the UK's au pairs work in London, but they are not classed an employees.
Instead, they receive 'pocket money' in return for light housework and childcare.
Dr Rosie Cox, of Birkbeck, University of London, says the government needs to make clearer rules about the employment status of au pairs.
