Liverpool Street: Trains cancelled after cables damaged

Liverpool Street is one of the UK's busiest railway stations
Trains were cancelled and commuters were warned to expect disruption after power lines near one of London's busiest train stations were damaged.
The overhead electric wires between Liverpool Street station and Bethnal Green, east London, were damaged on Wednesday night.
Work to clear stranded trains has begun after repairs were carried out overnight, Network Rail said.
Delays and cancellations lasted until about 09:00 GMT.
Some Greater Anglia and Stansted Express services were cancelled, while the London Overground had minor delays between Liverpool Street and Chingford, Enfield Town and Cheshunt.

Greater Anglia published a list of alternative routes, external on its Twitter feed, as well as details of delays and cancellations, external on its website.
TfL Rail services continued to run as normal.
Some commuters took to social media to criticise the delays, with one calling the Greater Anglia service a "debacle".

Network Rail said engineers had completed repairs to the wires at about 04:30 and added that all lines had now reopened.
Passengers were advised to check timetables, external before they travelled and find different routes where possible.
Liverpool Street station is the third busiest in the UK with about 64 million passengers a year and serves destinations in the east of England, as well as Stansted Airport.
