Kingston murder inquiry as man found stabbed

A man has been stabbed to death in south London, prompting a murder investigation.

The 22-year-old was found with a stab wound in his chest by officers called to a disturbance in Clarence Street, Kingston, at 03:45 BST.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was later confirmed dead. His next of kin have been informed.

Two men, aged 18 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody.

The 19-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

Supt Richard Smith said he was "truly saddened" by the death.

He said: "It is right that we do not speculate and give them [detectives] the time and space they need to complete their enquiries.

"I understand the concern this will cause within the community, although I would like to stress that we do not believe there to be any risk to the wider public."
