Tube strike: Jubilee weekend walkout at two stations

Workers based at Euston and Green Park stations will walk out on 3 June

London Underground workers based at two Tube stations are to strike for one day over the Jubilee bank holiday weekend in a row over bullying.

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union at Euston and Green Park will walk out on Friday 3 June.

General secretary Mick Lynch said those based at the two stations had "suffered years of sustained bullying and intimidation by a manager".

But Transport for London (TfL) said the action should not cause any disruption.

The strike is on the same day as a service of thanksgiving being held at St Paul's Cathedral to commemorate the Queen's 70-year reign.

The Northern and Victoria lines both run through Euston station, while Green Park is served by the Victoria, Piccadilly and Jubilee lines.

Mr Lynch claimed the strike would "cause significant disruption to people wishing to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee", and called on "Tube bosses to do the right thing, and deal appropriately with the manager in question".

However, TfL said it expected both stations would remain open even if the action went ahead and there should be "no disruption to our customers".

A spokesperson said: "This industrial action is designed to target a weekend of important celebrations and we're urging the RMT to call off this action and continue talks instead."

A spokesman for Prime Minister Boris Johnson also called for the action to be called off, saying: "I don't think we want to see any disruption to London's transport system at such a moment when people are trying to come together to honour this Jubilee year."
