A second woman has been fatally stabbed in London this week.
The 34-year-old was found with stab wounds at a home in Burrard Road, in Canning Town, east London.
Police and paramedics were called to the address just before 06:30 BST but she died at the scene.
A man aged 33, believed to be known to the victim, has been held on suspicion of murder. Police are working to identify the woman and inform her next of kin.
Det Ch Insp Mark Rogers said his team was "working diligently to piece together the events" leading to the "tragic" murder.
He added the 33-year-old man remains in custody and "at this time we are not looking for anyone else".
Det Supt Jimi Tele, the public protection lead in north-east London, urged residents with concerns to speak to officers, either on patrol or at their local station.
"A young woman has lost her life in awful circumstances and I can understand the worry this will cause amongst residents in Newham," he said.
"It is a worry that our officers share and drives us all on to ensure tackling violence against women remains a top priority for the Met."
In a separate case, a man has been charged with murdering 21-year-old Ania Jedrkowiak after she was found with fatal stab wounds in an alleyway off Church Gardens, South Ealing, west London, on Tuesday.
Dennis Akpomedaye, 29, of Blewitt Street in Newport, was charged with murder on Wednesday.
