Chadwell Heath: Couple assaulted in suspected homophobic attack

A man required hospital treatment after he and his partner were assaulted in a suspected homophobic attack.
Two men, aged in their 20s, were on High Road in Chadwell Heath, east London, on Sunday when they were approached by up to six men who were being abusive and made threats.
One member of the group then punched one of the victims in the head, causing cuts and bruising.
The Met Police said no arrests had been made.
The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment following the attack, which occurred at about 17:30 BST. He was discharged soon after.
The force said both victims had been left distressed by what happened.
A Met Police spokesperson said: "While police are still investigating the circumstances, at this stage the assault is being treated as homophobic."
A dedicated LGBTQ+ liaison officer will have oversight of the investigation and provide support to the victims, they added.
Anyone who has information about the assault has been urged to contact the police.
