London Overground: Police investigate sexual harassment at Bruce Grove
- Published
A police investigation has begun into alleged sexual harassment at a London Overground station.
Video posted to social media appears to show a man harassing a woman, who repeatedly asks him to leave her alone.
In a statement, British Transport Police (BTP) said the incident was believed to have happened at about 22:00 BST on Friday at Bruce Grove, Tottenham, north London.
BTP said inquiries were ongoing and "detectives are aware" of the video.
Transport for London (TfL) said it was assisting police with inquiries.
In the footage, the man approaches and follows the woman who asks another person, who cannot be seen, to help her.
No-one intervenes and she says the man has "jumped across the tracks to come and chat to me", telling him to "stay away from me".
He continues to follow her and she says "I don't want to chat to you, I don't know you," before the man responds, "I'll follow you... if you act up, I'll follow you".
The man then asks for her phone number as she tries to leave the station and asks if she is filming him, threatening to "take her phone".
A spokesperson for BTP said: "No-one should have to put up with this sort of behaviour on the rail network and we take all reports of a sexual harassment very seriously."
BTP is appealing to anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
Siwan Hayward, TfL's director of security, policing and enforcement, said: "This is an appalling incident, and we are deeply sorry that this person experienced this on our network. We are assisting the police with their investigation into this incident.
"Women and girls feeling safe on our transport network is an absolute priority for us, and we are working closely with the police to make the transport network a hostile place for offenders."
