Croydon: Man charged with murder of 19-year-old woman

A man has been charged with the murder of a 19-year-old woman who was found with stab wounds in Croydon.

Police and paramedics were called to a house in Ash Tree Way at 16:10 GMT on Sunday.

The Met Police said Mehak Sharma - an Indian national who had recently arrived in the UK - was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sahil Sharma, 23, of Ash Tree Way, Croydon, is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Police said Ms Sharma's next of kin had been informed, adding formal identification awaits.

A special post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
