A derelict house has gone on sale in south-west London for £695,000.

The three-bedroom house in Wimbledon has a hole in the upstairs bathroom ceiling and a bathtub full rain of rainwater, branches and leaves.

Estate agents SW19 said a similar house in good condition nearby went for over £1m.

The house is "strictly" for cash buyers only as it will not be eligible for a mortgage and "is in need of complete modernisation," the listing reads.

The listing described the property as an opportunity to "acquire a complete blank canvas to create your dream family home".

Other photos in the advert show a living room with a section of the ceiling missing and the floor is covered with green moss.

Luke Bennett, director of the agents said: "We can see a lot of people on the internet are having fun with this and as much as we appreciate all the interest, this is a serious commercial opportunity for someone.

"We have just sold a fully modernised version of this house on the next road for over £1m.

"We haven't flinched from showing the property in its full light as our pictures show."

According to Foxton's, the average house price for Wimbledon is £736,206.

London's house prices remain the most expensive in the UK averaging £536,000. Despite this, the capital has seen a slight decrease of 4.8% in the past year, according to the Halifax House Price index.

House prices rose in October for the first time in six months, according to the Halifax, but it expects values to fall over the next year.

Overall, UK house prices are down 3.2% compared to the same time last year.
