Des O'Connor's daughter loses case against Met Police
- Published
The daughter of late entertainer Des O'Connor has lost a High Court battle with the Metropolitan Police after a detective called her "amazingly hot".
James Mason, then a detective sergeant, contacted Kristina O'Connor when she reported an attempted robbery in 2011.
A disciplinary panel found he abused his position for sexual purposes, amounting to gross misconduct.
He was given a final written warning but Ms O'Connor said the force failed to properly investigate the complaint.
Her lawyers argued the police misconduct process did not address the officer's "predatory and abusive" actions.
Mr Justice Swift at the High Court dismissed Ms O'Connor's application for judicial review and said it was sufficient that the steps taken during the disciplinary process were "reasonable and appropriate".
Ms O'Connor was sent numerous inappropriate messages by Det Sgt Mason after he responded to her report of an attempted robbery in October 2011, the High Court heard.
He resigned from the Metropolitan Police late in 2022.
Lawyers representing Ms O'Connor indicated that they were considering an appeal.
