Four Metropolitan Police officers suspected of being involved in a brawl while off duty, have been put on restricted duties.

Police received multiple calls at about 23:00 GMT on 1 December after people were seen fighting close to the South Bank in central London.

The Met said the officers suspected of involvement in the brawl, on Jubilee Bridge near the Royal Festival Hall, were no longer on public-facing duties.

No arrests have been made.

'Lengthy CCTV inquiries'

The force has voluntarily referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) watchdog.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and said they were keen to speak to a group of Romanian men who may have information about the incident.

Det Insp Nicholas Goldwater, who is leading the investigation for the Met, said: "Our CID team is working alongside colleagues from the Directorate of Professional Standards to ascertain the facts of the incident, which led to numerous calls being made to the police that night.

"We are pursuing all lines of inquiry to establish what happened, including viewing a large amount of CCTV footage. These CCTV inquiries are lengthy and ongoing."

Police have urged anyone with information or footage, or anyone who witnessed the brawl to contact them.
