A man and woman are being held in custody over the fatal stabbing

A man and a woman have been arrested after a man was fatally stabbed in south-east London.

The Metropolitan Police was called to Old Kent Road at about 07:00 GMT to reports of a man with knife injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene at 07:22.

Inquiries were under way to identify the victim and notify his next of kin, the force said.

The arrested pair remained in custody, police added.

A crime scene and police cordons are in place.
