An elderly man has died in a house fire in south-west London.

London Fire Brigade said a man was found in the home and he died at the scene.

The brigade said the fire, which began at at 20:08 GMT, was under control two hours later. Part of the ground floor was damaged, it said.

The Metropolitan Police said some people were evacuated from neighbouring homes as a precaution but the cause of the fire was currently unknown.

Firefighters from Richmond, Kingston and Twickenham fire stations attended the incident and police remain on scene.
