Tottenham shooting: Man convicted of murdering Andre Salmon
- Published
A man has been found guilty of murdering an 18-year-old moped rider by shooting him in the chest with a shotgun.
Reagan Konin, 19, shot Andre Salmon as he was riding in Tottenham, north London last July.
CCTV showed the shooting caused Mr Salmon to crash his moped into a parked car on Constable Crescent, police said.
The footage identified Konin as a suspect and he handed himself in at a police station five days later.
The Met Police said he claimed he thought the gun was a replica, which he carried for his safety, and it went off by accident.
However, the prosecution argued Konin was looking to continue his pursuit of another man who he had allegedly chased with a machete three days before the shooting.
Konin pleaded not guilty to murder but admitted affray.
He was convicted by a jury after a trial.
Det Ch Insp Dave Whellams said: "Once again, a young man has lost his life in an act of violence and another family is grieving.
"There are still a lot of unanswered questions about what happened, and Konin will now have a long time in prison to reflect on his actions.
"However, nothing will take away the pain that he inflicted last summer."
Konin will be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 28 March.
