An electric rickshaw has been "totally destroyed" after catching fire near Buckingham Palace.

Videos on social media showed firefighters putting out flames while onlookers described hearing an "explosion" on Buckingham Gate.

Eyewitnesses described the flames as being about 4ft (1.2m) high and said there was a "popping sound".

Police said the fire was not being treated as suspicious or deliberate and there were no injuries.

Crews from Lambeth Fire Station were at the scene just before 13:00 GMT and the fire was extinguished shortly after.
