A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 26-year-old was fatally shot in south London.

Jazmel Patterson-Low was shot in Lambeth and died half an hour after a driver dropped him off at hospital at about 02:30 BST on Saturday.

A man aged 25 was arrested on Tuesday and remained in custody, the Metropolitan Police said.

Police believe an argument had flared up on the Westbury Estate, resulting in a gun being fired.

Det Insp Martin Thorpe, who is leading the Met's investigation, said the arrest showed the investigation was "making progress".

"But I am still appealing to any witnesses or anyone with information to get in contact," he said.

"We know there was a group of around 40 people gathered in and around St Rule Street on Friday evening and the early hours of Saturday morning. A dispute appears to have flared up rapidly after 02:00, resulting in shots being fired."

Det Insp Thorpe thanked those who have already provided information to police, but added he was "certain" other people knew what had happened and who was responsible for the shooting.

The arrest comes after investigators found a car believed to have been used to drop Mr Patterson-Low off at hospital.

Mr Patterson-Low's cause of death was found to be a single gunshot wound, and the Met said his family continued to be supported by officers.
