In pictures: United legends see statue to manager unveiled
Several former players, including Eric Cantona, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, attended the ceremony.
A bronze statue of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been unveiled at Old Trafford.
Ferguson has been in charge of United for 26 years, winning 27 major trophies including 12 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues. "I've had an incredible journey at the club and so many great players, some of whom are here today," he said.
The 9ft (2.75m) statue, created by Philip Jackson, was unveiled by Sir Alex's wife Cathy.
Dutch striker Robin Van Persie was one of the current Manchester United players who was at the ceremony.
The statue was commissioned in November 2011 to mark Ferguson's 25 years at the club, when the North Stand was renamed the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand.
