Officers are appealing for information after a man died following a road traffic accident in Oldham on Saturday.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said a 59-year-old suffered fatal injuries.

They also said a second man, also 59, suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital.

"A man and a woman, aged 32 and 36 respectively, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving," they said.

At around 15.15 GMT emergency services responded to reports of a collision near Alexandra Retail Park.

It is believed one vehicle was travelling South East along Park Road, and the other was going in the opposite direction, waiting to turn into the retail park.

As one went through the junction, the two vehicles collided, and one of the vehicles hit two people on a pedestrian island as a result.

The two people who have been arrested remain in custody for questioning.

GMP is appealing for anyone who saw the incident to come forward.

They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the accident.
