Bio-energy plant plans in Felthorpe approved

A new power plant using crops to generate energy is to be built in a village near Norwich after being approved by councillors.
Future Biogas will build a biomass-fuelled energy plant on a greenfield site north of Blake's Abattoir in Felthorpe.
It will use the natural breakdown of locally grown maize and grass silage to generate biogas for the National Grid.
Broadland District Council backed the plan despite objections.
Taverham Parish Council had said it would lead to over-development and increase traffic on local roads.
Broadland councillors approved the plans subject to conditions that included a ban on vehicles to and from the plant using the main street in the village of Felthorpe.
