Norwich UEA campus nature trail gets £9,000

A nature trail will be created around the University of East Anglia's campus at Norwich following a £9,000 handout from the Big Lottery Fund.
The trail will follow existing paths on the edge of the campus and along the banks of the River Yare.
It will explain the biodiversity of the area, identify wildlife and show how conservation is managed.
It is the only Norfolk project to receive a share of £123,220 for wildlife schemes in the region.
Elaine Sherriffs of UEA Volunteers, which has organised the project, said: "In a relatively small area several different habitats exist - grass meadows, woodland, reed beds, river and Broad, marshland, lines of ancient trees - and each has its own unique wildlife.
"The oldest tree on the edge of the campus is estimated to be more than 400 years old."
The trail will draw on information from ecologists and landscape historians at the UEA and is expected to be completed by the autumn.
