Clock on St Clement's Church in Norwich runs backwards

  • Published

The Norwich Historic Churches Trust has apologised to residents of Norwich after a clock on a church was discovered to be running backwards.

The clock on the tower of St Clement's Church on Magdalen Street stopped working following a power cut.

When the power supply was restored to the clock, the hands began moving the wrong way.

Nobody knows when it happened but it is likely to have been within the last month.

Not everybody in the area had noticed the malfunction.

Lindsay Smith, manager of The Mischief pub said: "A customer said yesterday that it was going backwards but I just thought they'd had a couple too many sherries!"
