Electricity substation in Norfolk has planning appeal refused

Plans to build an electricity substation in Norfolk have been refused after an appeal against a planning ruling was dismissed.

Dudgeon Offshore Wind wanted to build on a 42-acre (16.9 hectare) site south of Little Dunham, near Swaffham.

The substation would have taken electricity from an offshore wind farm north of Cromer.

Permission was refused because its "visual impacts" would be "damaging" to the rural landscape.

Breckland Council initially turned down the plans in October and an appeal by Dudgeon was lodged.

A public hearing was held in June at Great Dunham village hall as part of the inquiry.
