Computer system for East of England Ambulance completed

An expanded computer system for East of England Ambulance Service has been completed with the Norwich office coming on line.
The system to track and dispatch ambulances across six counties is also based in the Bedford and Chelmsford.
The nearest ambulance to a patient can now be sent even when it is stationed in a different control room area.
The service covers Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
A spokesman said that the new system "means it is now much easier to deploy an ambulance from Essex into Suffolk or Norfolk into Cambridgeshire and vice versa".
"If there is ever a problem in one control room calls can simply be transferred and managed by a different base.
"This new system will allow us to provide a better service to patients."
