Work on North Norfolk Council offices to cost £750,000

More than £750,000 will need to be spent on the offices of a Norfolk council over the next five years to bring them up to scratch and meet safety standards, says a report.

A report to North Norfolk Council's cabinet warns of safety concerns at the authority's headquarters in Cromer.

The council officer report says that immediate work to comply with health and safety rules will cost £200,000.

It also raises concerns about fire exits as some open into flower beds.

Heating pumps and electrical wiring need fixing as well at the offices, which have been open for just over 20 years.

The report adds that about £1.6m will need to be spent on the building in total between 2011 and 2036.
