Norwich Pride: Parade's colourful display

All the colours of the rainbow were displayed in costumes and displays

Thousands of people have turned out in Norwich for the city's Pride parade.

Members of the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgendered (LGBT) community took part in the parade from Chapelfield Gardens to the Forum in a variety of colours and costumes.

Spokeswoman Michelle Savage said it was "about engaging everyone and being in the heart of the city".

The event has run since 2009 and is supported by volunteers, the city council, arts venues and businesses.

Ms Savage said: "Other pride events take place in a park somewhere and you have a party.

"Here we're about being in the city - so even if you were in Norwich you could not help but be touched by the event.

"People worry about being stereotyped, so that's why it's important for everybody to get involved and we can show how LGBT people play a role in society like anybody else."

Venues throughout the city were flying rainbow flags in support of the event.

Shoppers, residents and visitors lined the main streets in the city centre to watch the parade.
