The boss of a Norfolk council is set to step down.

Richard Packham, the £110,000-a-year managing director of Great Yarmouth Borough Council, told staff he had asked for voluntary redundancy and wants to leave in March.

The request will be discussed by the council's cabinet on 21 November and at a full council meeting on 27 November.

A new staffing structure is being proposed by the Labour-run council in the hope of saving £3.2m a year.

About 55 staff members applied for voluntary redundancy last month.
